Every day
Morning and evening
- Cream with 10-15% urea on your heels, morning and evening. Look for "urea" on the label
- After a shower, dry between your toes
- Shoes that fit, so they do not press on your toes or heel
If the skin gets rough
Do not cut it at home
- Do not cut it or rub it with pumice, just use the cream
- Rough skin is gently removed during the procedure on a wet foot
Once a week
Check your feet
- Cracks, redness, hard spots, nail colour
- Soles are easy to check with a mirror
Every 2-3 weeks
Toenails
- Straight across, do not round the corners
- Level with the tip of the toe
- Best after a shower, smooth sharp edges with a file
When buying
Shoes
- Try them on in the evening: feet are bigger by evening
- A finger's width of room at the front
- Wide toe box, toes not squeezed
- Rotate pairs so they have time to dry
Never
This makes it worse
- Cutting skin and calluses with a blade: the skin grows back thicker
- Cutting out an ingrowing corner: it goes in deeper
- Hiding a yellowed nail under polish
- Soaking feet in hot water if you have diabetes
